First night in the new premises!

Tonight, we travelled the short distance to Douglas BC for some cracking spars. First in was Steven Cairns, who got in some top quality sparring against Tommy McCarthy (Douglas BC) and Martin McDonagh (The Glen). Next in we had Saoirse Roche who had four great rounds with Shakira Coonghe(Douglas BC). Thanks to Douglas BC for the invite.

Saoirse Roche was busy tonight at the Cork Female Squad training session held at Togher BC. There was a good turnout with some great skill on display. Saoirse got in some top quality sparring against Nycole Hayes (Togher BC), Saoirse Morrissey (Setanta BC) and Megane Lehane(Rylane BC), four current Irish champions in the one ring!!! A big thanks to all the coaches, it was a well organised session.

It was a successful night tonight for Steven Cairns and Legacy BC. Steven put on a master class against the talented Adam Kinsella (St Mary's BC, New Ross), winning on all judges cards. Steven was selected to captain the Cork team that travelled to Dungarvan to take on a Dungarvan BC select team, with the Cork team coming out on top! Well done Steven on a brilliant performance. #TeamLegacy

Today we had Saoirse Roche represent Cork in a Cork Vs Leinster tournament held at The Cork County Boxing Board HQ in Churchfield. This was an exhibition bout against Labhaoise Glynn (Cloghan BC). Saoirse gave a powerful performance showing great footwork and solid punching. This was a great display between two current Irish Champions, well done girls!! #TeamLegacy

Today was a memorable day for Legacy BC, with Steven Cairns being honoured as Cork's Best Boxer. Steven was presented with the "Champ of Champions Paddy Martin Perpetual Cup" by Paddy's son and Fianna Fail leader, Micheál Martin. Well done Steven on a well deserved accolade!! #TeamLegacy

Today was a huge day for Legacy BC. Steven Cairns won the Boy 4 52KG All Ireland title this afternoon, beating James Delaney (Olympic BC, Galway). This was Steven's 5th and Legacy BC's first All Ireland title! Well done Steven on a great achievement!! #AllIrelandChampion #5InARow #TeamLegacy

Another big day for Legacy BC!! Saoirse Roche won the Girl 3 51KG All Ireland title this afternoon, beating Shania McCloskey (Carndonagh BC) with a dominant performance. This was 'Saoirse's second All Ireland Title in a row, it was also Legacy BC's second All Ireland title in only our first season. After 3 big wins in the earlier rounds, Steven Cairns was unlucky today, to lose out on a split decision in the final of The All Ireland Senior Cadet Championships to Mikey Stokes (Athlone BC). Well done on another fantastic season, Steven!! We'll be back! #TeamLegacy

We're just back from The Wexford International Box Cup, where we had a very successful weekend, claiming three titles. James Power gave a dominant performance winning his final with a TKO2. Steven Cairns boxed 3 bouts over the weekend, winning all 3 by unanimous decision, including a great performance against the Scottish Champion. Saoirse Roche put in two powerful performances, winning her semi final with a TKO1 and the final again with a TKO, this time at the start of the second round. Unfortunately, Jamie Lee who put in a fantastic performance, against a very strong opponent, was unlucky to loose out on a 2-1 split decision!

A big thanks to Eoghan Jeffers, our local Sinn Féin County Councillor, for calling in to the club this evening. Eoghan was a great help to the club earlier in the year when he assisted us in our application for a County Council Amenity grant to install a wooden floor complete and a competition sized boxing ring. Well done Jamie Lee on a great performance and a great win today. Jamie was picked on the Cork team to face Galway on an Inter-County tournament today. Jamie faced European Silver medalist, Patrick Sweeney of Olympic BC. Jamie put in a powerful display earning a well deserved win!

Today we travelled down to St Francis BC in Limerick for an afternoon of sparring. James Power and Steven got in some quality rounds against Myles Casey(St Francis), Tommy Casey(St Francis) and Pat Mongan(Olympic BC Galway). Well done guys on some great sparring. Edward and Paddy Donovan (OLOL), Dean Walsh(St Josephs) were also in action today. Thanks to Ken and Anna Moore and all at St Francis for organising the spars and looking after me and Lee with tea and biscuits!
